Decision factors

Capability is the intersection of process and requirement.

The same nominal process can produce very different results depending on part definition, material condition, supplier equipment, fixturing, revision control and measurement approach.

Geometry

Feature access, wall sections, bends, undercuts, welds and assembly interfaces influence the viable route.

Material behavior

Machinability, formability, shrinkage, moisture, heat input and finishing response must match the product requirement.

Tolerance and evidence

A process is only suitable when critical features can be produced and verified with an agreed measurement method.

Volume and next decision

The route should support the required quantity and the engineering or commercial decision the parts must enable.
