State the standard, grade, temper or delivery condition and any mechanical, chemistry or coating requirement needed for purchase.

Claim boundaries

Material labels that are too broad

‘Mild steel’ is not an exact purchasing specification.

‘304 stainless’ may still omit product and surface condition.

A certificate does not prove final dimensions or cosmetic quality.

Similar nominal chemistry does not automatically prove an approved substitute.
